The City of Lake Forest is making it easier for residents to find money owed to them by the State or other entities. As of July, 2017, the State Controller's Office is holding more than $5.2 million owed to 22,000 Lake Forest residents and businesses. State law requires corporations, businesses, financial institutions and insurance companies to annually report and deliver monies to the Controller's Office after there has been no activity on an account or contact with the owner for at least three years. Residents who find themselves on the list can click on the provided link to claim the money electronically.
