The first Sports Park Community Design Workshop, held on June 13, 2009, was a resounding success. During the course of the workshop, community members came together to identify likes and dislikes, preferred facilities, and project priorities, providing City staff with the input necessary to develop a conceptual plan.
The second Sports Park Community Design Workshop was held on July 16, 2009. Staff presented the proposed Lake Forest Sports Park Consensus Master Plan that was based upon input from the first workshop.
At the August 18, 2009, City Council meeting, City Council approved the Consensus Master Plan to provide a project description of the proposed Sports Park and Recreation Center to be used by the City in the environmental analysis for the project environmental impact report, future planning, and approvals related to the proposed Sports Park and Recreation Center project. The Master Plan is not intended as a binding commitment to the layout, amenities or the project specified therein and is subject to further final phasing, configuration and approval by the City Council.
