Does Cox Communications have an exclusive franchise to provide cable television services in Lake Forest?
Although Cox Communications is currently the only non-satellite TV service provider in Lake Forest, the franchise to provide cable television services between the City and Cox Communications is non-exclusive, as stated in Lake Forest Municipal Code Section 5.31.030 (F). If other vendors expressed interest, the City is able to grant one or more franchises to construct and operate a cable system.

Does the City have volunteer opportunities for Seniors?
Yes, senior volunteer opportunities are available through the Police Services Department.  Interested seniors can volunteer for the Sheriff's Team of Active Retired Seniors (S.T.A.R.S.) program. Some of the services provided by the S.T.A.R.S. include vacation checks, assistance at community events and the Seniors Offering Support (S.O.S.) program. How can I find out about current Lake Forest job openings and how do I obtain an employment application?
Current job openings are posted on the City's web site at 
http://agency.governmentjobs.com/lakeforest/default.cfm.  Lake Forest Employment Applications can be downloaded from the City's website at http://www.lakeforestca.gov/depts/ms/forms.asp.

How do I apply for a City Position?
All applicants for City positions must submit a City of Lake Forest Employment Application either online, by mail, or in person.  A resume will not be accepted as a substitute for a completed City employment application.

To apply in person, your application must be signed, dated and returned to the City Hall Receptionist on or before the filing deadline date and time.  Mailed applications must be received on or before the application deadline date and time. Postmarks or faxes will not be accepted.  Late applications will not be accepted. 

Once you have submitted your application, please be sure to notify us, at (949) 461-3415, of any changes in personal information such as your phone number or address.

Is the City responsible for rate regulation of cable television services?
No. The Federal Communications Commission has determined that the City of Lake Forest is a competitive market. As a competitive market, the authority of the City to regulate rates has been removed by the FCC.

Is Verizon FiOS available in Lake Forest?
No. Verizon has not expressed an interest in establishing the infrastructure required to support FiOS in Lake Forest. If Verizon is interested in offering FiOS in Lake Forest, the City would be happy to work with them.

What is the status of the AT&T U-verse project in Lake Forest?
U-verse is currently available in a limited area of the city.  To determine if U-verse is available in your area, please contact AT&T. 

The City is working with AT&T on permits to expand the U-verse project in Lake Forest.  Additional permits have been issued for more areas with an estimated a construction completion date of spring 2011.  To discuss plans for U-verse in more detail, you may wish to contact Carol Tagayun, AT&T Director of External Affairs, at carol.tagayun@att.com for more information.

Who at the City can I contact for Cox Communications customer service issues?
The City may assist residents to resolve customer service issues with Cox Communications. For assistance, please contact Debra Rose at 461-3414 or drose@lakeforestca.gov.
