The City of Lake Forest faces many exciting opportunities and challenges in the years ahead. To enhance community input and involvement, the City offers the Lake Forest Leadership Academy. Since spring of 2003, the Citizens' Leadership Academy has developed community leaders, one of which is now an elected member of our City Council, while other "graduates" serve on the Planning Commission and Park & Recreation Commission.
The Academy is an 8-week course held once per year in the Fall. The Academy provides participants with a general overview of City operations and departments. Applicants from all segments of the community are encouraged to participate. The ideal Leadership Academy will include individuals with varied educational and cultural backgrounds, who live in various sections of the community. Academy members must be at least 18 years of age, and either live or work in Lake Forest. Participants are selected on a first come, first serve basis.
