Several of the City’s partners are offering free online programs for children of all ages.  This list will be updated as more programs become available. 


The OCFA produced a number of virtual classes geared towards elementary aged children covering various aspects of the OCFA.  The course, called "Tones at 2" (that fire lingo for "fire tones at 2 p.m."), is available on the OCFA’s Facebook - click here!

Distance Learning

  • Celebrate Earth Day with OC Waste & Recycling! Test your knowledge of recycling and composting with the Virtual EcoChallenge, learn about the anatomy of a landfill, and take a virtual tour of our OC Landfills. Click here for a complete list of activities and programs.
  • Playwell TEKnologies Facebook LIVE: Weekdays at 10am, you and your child may learn the fundamental principles of engineering and physics all while playing with LEGOS! Participate in the Facebook Live by following @playwelltek on Facebook.
  • Distance Learning with the Simthsonian National Museum of Natural History: Bring a Smithsonian Scientist into your classroom with Smithsonian Science How!  These scheduled video webcasts are for school aged children in grades 3 through 8.  Click here to sign up.
  • ABCya Learning Gym:  Have fun while learning new things!  These educational games are designed for kids grades pre-K through 6 and will keep you student entertained and engaged.  Click here for more!
  • California State Parks:  Learn about California’s natural resources and cultural heritage with the California State Parks home learning program.  The program is free for students in grades K through 12, but space is limited and preregistration is required.  Sign up here today!
  • Where in the World is Carmen San Diego? Play fun games, go on virtual adventures, and even learn a little in the process.  Visit Carmen’s website for more information.
  • Pacific Marine Mammal Center: Learn about marine mammals and how the Pacific Marine Mammal Center steps in to nurse injured wildlife back to health.  Each class is geared toward a different age group.  As a result, some classes are tailored toward children.  Classes are limited to 100 web connections per session.  Pre-registration is required.  Click here to learn more!
