Apply for Appointment to a City Commission

Lake Forest City leaders rely on input and recommendations from members of several topic-specific commissions. Each commission is made up of five residents who are each appointed by a member of the City Council. Commissioners serve four-year terms. The City's appointed commissions include:

  • The Community Services Commission, which meets on the third Thursday of each month to review matters related to parks and recreation programs.
  • The Planning Commission, which meets on the second Thursday of each month to review applications for new development, proposed zoning changes and proposed land subdivisions.
  • The Traffic and Parking Commission, which meets on the fourth Thursday of each month and advises the City Council on issues relating to parking and the safe and efficient movement of traffic, including vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians and other modes of transportation.

Apply for Appointment to the Traffic and Parking Commission

On October 15, 2019, the City Council appointed Mike James to the City Council, thus forfeiting his seat on the Traffic and Parking Commission for a term expiring December, 2020 .  Pursuant to City Council Policy, nominating Council Member Robinson will be able to make an at-large appointment to fill said vacancy.  Applications are available  and due by Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 5 p.m.
