Apply for Appointment to a City Commission

Lake Forest City leaders rely on input and recommendations from members of several topic-specific commissions. Each commission is made up of five residents who are each appointed by a member of the City Council. Commissioners serve four-year terms. The City's appointed commissions include:

  • The Community Services Commission, which meets on the third Thursday of each month to review matters related to parks and recreation programs.
  • The Planning Commission, which meets on the second Thursday of each month to review applications for new development, proposed zoning changes and proposed land subdivisions.
  • The Traffic and Parking Commission, which meets on the fourth Thursday of each month and advises the City Council on issues relating to parking and the safe and efficient movement of traffic, including vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians and other modes of transportation.

Applications are due by the close of business on December 31, 2018. Applicants for any committee should review the following documents:

Apply for Appointment to the Community Services Commission

Newly elected City Council Members will make three individual, at large appointments to the Community Services Commission in December 2018.   Appointments will serve terms commencing in January 2019 and serving through December 2022.

The appointment of Community Services Commissioners will be on a one-to-one basis. Each newly elected City Council Member is responsible for selecting one Community Services Commissioner at large and recommending that person for appointment to the Commission at the January 15, 2019 City Council meeting.

 All interviews will take place outside of the Council Chamber and will result in applicants being personally contacted by City Council members. For this reason, we ask that you include your primary contact information in the application.

Apply for Appointment to the Planning Commission

Newly elected City Council Members will make three individual, at large appointments to the Planning Commission in December 2018.   Appointments will serve terms commencing in January 2019 and serving through December 2022.

The appointment of Planning Commissioners will be on a one-to-one basis. Each newly elected City Council Member is responsible for selecting one Planning Commissioner at large and recommending that person for appointment to the Commission at the January 15, 2019 City Council meeting. Apply for Appointment to the Traffic and Parking Commission

Newly elected City Council Members will make individual, at large appointments to the Traffic and Parking Commission in December 2018.   Three appointments will serve terms commencing in January 2019 and serving through December 2022. In addition, one Commissioner will be appointed to fill a partial term from January 2019 through December 2020.

The appointment of Traffic and Parking Commissioners will be on a one-to-one basis. Each newly elected City Council Member is responsible for selecting one Traffic and Parking Commissioner at large and recommending that person for appointment to the Commission at the January 15, 2019 City Council meeting. Council Member Robinson will appoint one Commissioner to fill the term serving through December 2020. All interviews will take place outside of the Council Chamber and will result in applicants being personally contacted by City Council members.
