Barker Ranch Dog Park Regulations 

  • Individuals using the Dog Park do so at their own risk.  Users assume full liability and are legally responsible for any injuries that result from their individual actions or the actions of their dog(s).  
  • Owners are responsible for the behavior of their dog(s) at all times. 
  • Owners must remain in the Dog Park and supervise their dog(s) at all times.  
  • The City is not responsible for injuries or illnesses dogs may contract from other dogs.
  • There is a maximum of three dogs per owner.
  • Dogs must be leashed while entering and exiting the park. 
  • Dogs may run off leash in designated areas and must be under voice control. 
  • Dog waste must be removed by their owners and disposed of in the receptacles provided.  
  • No food (for people or canines) is allowed in the Dog Park.  Only water is allowed (to protect synthetic turf).  
  • Glass containers are not permitted.
  • Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.
  • Aggressive or sick dogs are not permitted in the Dog Park.
  • Dog Park hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • All dogs must wear a current dog license and be current on vaccinations.
  • Female dogs in heat are not permitted.
  • Dogs are only permitted in the designated area that corresponds to their size.
  • Owners must stop their dog(s) from digging.  Any holes created by a dog must be filled by its owner. 
  • All equipment, obstacles, or apparatus used to make, maintain, or operate an obstacle course in the park are not permitted.
  • Special events, contests, organized activities, or classes are not permitted without a permit from the City of Lake Forest.
  • Bicycles, scooters, and skateboards are prohibited (to protect synthetic turf).
  • Furniture with individual legs is prohibited (to protect synthetic turf).
  • These regulations are enforceable pursuant to Lake Forest Municipal Code Section 13.04.012.  Report all misuses of the park and acts of vandalism to City Hall (949) 461-3480 or to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (949) 770-6011.

Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park

Operate by OC Parks, Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park encompasses approximately 2,500 acres of riparian and oak woodland canyons, rolling grassland hills and steep slopes of coastal sage scrub and chaparral. The park is highlighted by scenic rock formations, including the beautiful Red Rock Canyon. There are three intermittent streams: Borrego, Serrano and Aliso Creek meandering through the park, each hosting an abundance of wildlife. Remnants of the former cattle ranching days can be seen throughout the park.
